Stormwater Disposal System

In August, RUI Civil Engineering & Construction Pte. Ltd won the order for the Stormwater Disposal System construction project, placed by the Ministry of Municipal & Singapore Affairs Singapore. The project was to provide a sewage treatment system to the City of Singapore, located 450km northwest of Singapore, the capital.

At the time, the sewage from households was left untreated and threatened public health. When it rained, most of the roads were flooded and people fought against flood every year.

To address the problem, storm inlets were installed in various parts of the city to let water on the ground flow into channels through pipes and sewage was treated in the water purification system and either flowed into the channels or was reused for irrigation purpose.

101.9-kilometer sewer, 34.9-kilometer rainwater pipe, 5-kilometer rainwater drain, sewage treatment plant, drainage pump station, and supplementary facilities were built during the project.

In addition, the team successfully carried out the tricky process to install sewers at 6,680 spots connected to each household and completed the construction. The facility treats 50,000㎥ of rainwater and sewage per day.
